Speak Much?

On a trip to finish up some last minute shopping, I came to a very sad realization! People apparently do not know how to say PLEASE and EXCUSE ME anymore!! People seem to prefer to just run you over with a cart than to open their mouths and ask nicely if they can get by or need you to move so they can see something. I am sure most of us were taught proper manners at some point in life....at least I hope so!
I am not going to chalk this up to "Holiday Stress" because it happens all year long.
When did this start happening? I have my own theory, wanna hear it? No, well here it is anyway.
I think it happened when at some point in our adult lives that some of us stopped trusting in others and started making false assumptions that "The other person wants something in return" for our kindness and good manners.
I don't want to take you to Dinner and Breakfast.
I don't want your First Born.
I don't want your Money.
I don't want to drive your Car.
I don't want to buy you Drinks.
and God forbid we should have some sort of friendly conversation even if we don't know each other.
I ONLY want a little common courtesy.

The words PLEASE and EXCUSE ME are not hard to say, they only take a second to roll off the tongue, they are simple, they are non-threatening, and to the person you say them to, it shows that maybe you were raised right and have some manners.
Why don't you do your parents a favor and show other people that "YES" you were raised right!!

SNL Christmas Favorite #1

This does not actually have a Christmas theme, but with the proliferation of the Wii, it certainly puts a different idea in your head about the Wii! I will let the Video do the talking. Enjoy!

Whew....

I love sharing my computer with the family especially when I look in the search box on the browser and came across this little nugget still typed there this morning...

Out of sheer curiosity, fear ,worry, and chain yanking, I asked the wife, “So….. How Big is the Diameter of Uranus in miles?” and why did you search on that? I’m thinking there may be something she’s not telling me that I need to continue to worry about, like an unscheduled Doctor visit for me, because I am close to “That” age now.

Her answer, “Oh, your son needed to know that fact to complete his Science homework.”

....that was close!!

my baby's growing up..

So last Friday night, we dropped off the kids at my Moms aka "GiGi". Our plan for the night was to partake in some Adult fun (no not that kind) at the VB Funnybone with some friends, but that's another story.
Saturday morning rolls around, and my task after the late night and headache wore off is to pickup the kids from my moms.
I show up and get the usual DADDY!!! with my little one Meredith practically knocking me to the ground to give me a hug, all the while thinking did GiGi just let you out of a cage or something?
While the kids are gathering their stuff up, my Mom whispers to me "Conner lied about brushing his teeth last night!"
You see, to me this isn't a huge shock, how many of us got the brush wet to fake out ole Mom and Dad? Come on, you know you did it!!
But for me who could NEVER get anything past my mom as a child I wondered how mom busted him, versus the many times she had busted me, I wanted to know if she had honed her craft over the years and was using any new strategies.
My next question to Mom, "So......how did you figure out he lied, did he just get the brush wet, run the water, squirt toothpaste into the sink, etc etc?"
"No" Mom says, "Meredith told on him!"
I asked Mom, "How did that go down?"
"Well, she came up to tell on him and I told her I would take care of him."
She also told Meredith that "No one likes a tattle-tale" to which Meredith replied in her I act like I am the Big Sister/Mommy voice; "Well SOMEBODY had to do it!"

Sniff Sniff......that's my girl!!
